The Twilight (Time) Zone

Hopeless Presidential candidate John Kerry may want to give up on trying to explain himself. In an effort to explain his statement that he "actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it", the Senator created another wrinkle in the story. He said, "It just was a very inarticulate way of saying something, and I had one of those inarticulate moments late in the evening when I was dead tired in the primaries and I didn't say something very clearly." The only problem is that the statement in question was made at noon. DOH!

Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care?

Speaking In Tongues?

I'm sorry, but this is hilarious. The whack-a-mole comment put me on the floor! Thanks to The Daily Recycler for a much needed belly laugh.

WARNING: I came across some Kerry-like swearing (if you know what I mean) on The Daily Recycler. So if you might be offended easily, avoid sites that might quote John Fenheimer Kerry.

They're At It Again!

I haven't ripped CBS (Constantly Buried in Scandals) News lately. Thankfully, with a little patience, one only needs to wait a little while...

RatherBiased.com the scoop on yet another CBS (Can't Believe the Story) News bogus attack on the President. I guess they figure they've got nothing to lose now that they've been outed as Kerry's propaganda outlet. It seems reported Richard Schlesinger has taken up the baton in the Bash-Bush relay at CBS (Crash, Burn, Self-immolation). It's becoming more and more obvious. The problem with CBS (Clearly Biased Stuff) News is not just Dan Rather. It's the corporate culture.

Kerry's Campaign-Ending Scandal?

Something is amiss with John Kerry's skin tone. Blogs For Bush has the before and after pics. The blog Infinate Monkeys links the current pigment puzzle with Kerry's original Oompa-Loompa-gate scandal. This is reminicent of Kerry's Botox flap.

Is it possible that the American people could support someone who is extremely rich, has his face medically altered and changes the color of his skin for some unknown reason? Well, maybe.

So That's Where They Went.

I found this story on Blogizdat. I told you to read his blog.

I guess we now know where Sadam's nukulure* secrets went. I wonder what other WMD "stuff" made it's way to Syria.

Get Your Money's Worth

One of Michael Medved's guests today was Mike Liffrig who is running for US Senate against Michael Moore favorite Byron Dorgan. Go to Mike Liffrig's website and donate to his campaign. Your money can go a long way in sparsely populated North Dakota which is also very solidly a Bush state. However, Dorgan is the incumbant so Mike needs as much help as he can get. Name recognition key and getting it can be expensive.

Another candidate that Hugh Hewitt has been supporting is John Thune in South Dakota. He's trying to unseat Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. The last I checked, Thune has a slight lead. However, as we found out from Thune's Senate run in 2002, a slight lead cannot be counted on in South Dakota. Keep an eye on SoDak voter fraud, especially if Daschle fails to gain any momentum in the polls.

So break out your wallets for Mike Liffrig and John Thune. I have.

Long Overdue Link

I have been remiss in pointing you to a blog I check out every day. Blogizdat is run by a close personal friend of mine *clears throat* who is the most underratted blogger in the history of baseball. *clears throat* I like his blog better than my own, but that's not saying much. He's got a government job so he has more time to spend on his blog than I do. (I'm going to get ripped for that comment. Sorry cc.)

For those of you who hate my blog, you can blame him. He gave me the last little nudge into the blogosphere. For those of you who like my blog, it was all me.

Shock and Blog

Well, I have another blog to plug. Go take a look at Shock and Blog. As Muzzy would say, he's one of the good guys.

WW IV

While the unjustifiable butchering of innocent civilians in Iraq is getting all the attention, innocent people are also dying at the hands of Islamic extremists elsewhere in the world. [Story] On September 18th, a Bangladeshi man who converted from Islam to Christianity 15 years ago had his throat cut as he was walking home from work. The alleged men who did it were called "Islamic warriors" by a Bengali daily paper. If these animals are indeed "warriors", they must have been engaged in a fierce battle with a dangerous enemy, right? The "enemy" they murdered, was a doctor who provided free medical care to the poor and mortgaged his house to provide flood relief.

This is the enemy we face in World War IV. Their goal is not to get America out of the Middle-east. Their goal is to bring the whole world to Islam through submission - either by conversion or the sword. Because they believe they are doing the will of God, there can be no compromise or peace treaty. They will only accept complete victory and total, unconditional surrender. If they are doing the will of Allah and if Allah is all powerful, anything less would be a defeat. Therefore, if we don't fight them in Iraq and Afghanistan, we will fight them right here in America. We may have to do that anyway. But fight we must.

Victor Davis Hanson

Victor Davis Hanson, a prolific author, does some of the best commentary on current events you will ever read. A professor of classics at California State University-Fresno, he brings a unique perspective on many issues of the day. In addition to his website, you can also find his articles on Real Clear Politics.

Someone's Opinion Other Than Mine

If you want a great source for political commentary you need to visit Real Clear Politics daily. With one click you get commentary from the best political thinkers on a wide range of current issues. Though most are on the Right, RCP regularly posts articles by Ellen Goodman, Maureen Dowd, Peter Beinart, Michael Moore and many other well known Lefties. (Nobody's perfect!) RCP is also a great resource for following the election. They bring together all of the major national polls and even provide polling for each state. If you don't add RCP to your Bookmarks, well . . . you're a loser.

PS: I made a mistake. I think this is the correct link for Michael Moore. Oh, wait a minute. That's not it. Here it is.

Homework?

According to an article on the HoustonChronicle.com website, A Dallas teacher "is on paid administrative leave after sendingĀ a first-grader home with feces in his backpack because the boy went to the bathroom on the classroom floor." I realize it's not easy to be a teacher, especially a first grade teacher. But isn't this taking passive-agressive a little too far?

The spoksman for the Dallas school district, Donald Claxton, gets my vote for the spin of the week: "It generally appears the teacher was trying to help raise awareness with the family". It seems to me she was trying to raise a stink with the family.

Catagory: DUH!

There's an interesting article linked on Drudge entitled Men, Women More Different Than Thought. For a few folks still living in the Liberal la-la land of unisex bathrooms (and I'm not talking about the one-seaters) I'm sure this is a stunning revelation. I was aware of the profound differences between men and women right around the time I hit puberty. Well, maybe a bit earlier. You know what I mean.

This is all somewhat tongue in cheek, of course. If you read the article, it's quite interesting and mainly discusses the differences in medical treatment and disease between men and women. Share it with someone you care about.

Welcome!

For those of you who got my email and decided to come for a visit, welcome! I did a little cleaning and rearranged the few furnishings I have. I hope you like it. I've only been at this for a few days, so there's not much here. However, I intend to post regularly so come back often.

Death Row Conversion?

The head honcho of CBS' parent company, Viacom, has come out in support of President Bush's re-election. Sumner Redstone, a self-described liberal Democrat, says that he is supporting the President because the Republican administration's policies will be better for Viacom. That's an amazing statement coming from someone who has supported the Democrat candidate over the last several elections. Apparently he has just recently become interested in Viacom's well-being. In fact, it must be quite recent, since he's donated the $2,000 maximum to the Kerry campaign!

I have no doubt that he believes this move will be good for Viacom - just not for the reasons he has given. I suspect he's hoping that if they go to bed with the sheriff they won't be swinging from the gallows at dawn.

Memo to Sumner: It only works in the movies.

Burning Bridges Before He Crosses

John Kerry has found a new way to demonstrate his incompetence in foreign policy. Apparently he was not satisfied with insulting the nations of Albania, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Georgia, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Thailand, Tonga, and Ukraine by calling them "coalition of the coerced and the bribed". Today, he decided that it would make him look more presidential to insult the Iraqi Prime Minister Allawi by saying he was lying about the situation in Iraq. PM Allawi, after all, only LIVES in Iraq where his life is threatened 24/7 by the same people who carry out ritual human sacrifices by beheading the innocent. Kerry, on the other hand, has to navigate a minefield of "clumsy" Secret Service Agents, improperly chilled Chardonnay and $1,000 haircuts. His only daily fear is what his shoot-from-the-lip condiment heiress/wife might say in front of a live microphone. What could he possibly know about the "real" situation in Iraq that Mr. Allawi doesn't? That's right. Nothing.

No Honor Among . . . Journalists?

Steve Croft of the original version of 60 Minutes is apparently looking out for number one. The New York Daily News reported today that Kroft has said that "it's unlikely the Sunday show would have made the mistake of using the documents that bolstered Rather's report -". Yeah, right. They much prefer editing down a two-hour interview to fit their agenda. In other words, the Wednesday folks should never have allowed the "evidence" to be outside of their control, right Steve?

It's a Wild World

It seems that "the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens", now known as Yusuf Islam, had a little trouble entering the country yesterday. I doubt that he is on the Terror Watch list for anything he has done - unless you count his support for the "hit" on author Salman Rushdie, which was ordered by the Ayatollah Khomeini. He's either on the list because he hangs out with one or more people of interest or, like Ted Kennedy, he has the misfortune of having the same name (or pseudonym) as a known terror suspect. Since they are deporting Mr. Islam today, I doubt it was a case of mistaken identity. Pick your friends carefully.

Mea Maxima Culpa...NOT

CBS has admitted they were wrong and Dan Rather has apologized. Or did they? It seems to me the only thing they have admitted is that they couldn't authenticate the bogus documents they used on 60 Minutes II. The only thing Dan has apologized for is using the documents which had not been authenticated. Of course, they have not admitted that they went out of their way to NOT authenticate the documents. Two of their own experts have said they told CBS the documents were very suspect. The so called witnesses and sources CBS relied on to substantiate the story are either connected to the Democrat Party or have an axe to grind with the President. It stretches the limits of reasonableness to assume that they are just incompetent. There must be some malicious intent here. However, even if you give CBS the benefit of the doubt, the level of incompetence they have displayed in this scandal is sufficient to take away their license to practice journalism.

Why Solablogola?

Why Solablogola?

First, I have an interest in theology. Sola Scriptura, Sola Fide and Sola Gratia were the theological battle cries of the Protestant Reformation. The Reformers labored, suffered and died for these Scriptural Truths and for the sake of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The name of this blog is a small recognition of the Reformers and the theology I hold dear.

Second, all the really cool blog names have been taken. :-)

Does this mean I will only write about theological issues? Of course not! I decided to start this blog in order to document my thoughts, for better or worse. (Hopefully there will be more of the former.) I expect that current events, politics and pop culture will be addressed in addition to theology. So, if you're reading this and you're not me, I hope you find it interesting. If you're me and you find it boring, it's time to quit blogging!
